What is "Jeopardy" Style Quoting?

This term was coined in reference to the US TV quiz show "Jeopardy!", where the contestants have to find the right question to a given answer.

In Usenet terms, Jeopardy style quoting is the annoying practise of putting your reply text over the full quote of the posting you're replying to. This is opposed to the standard practise of quoting only what's necessary and filling in one's comments under the relevant quoted parts.

Jeopardy style quoting is bad, because it makes it harder for the reader to follow what's going on in the discussion and who said what to whom - especially in longer threads, because there you have to keep scrolling up and down to correlate the new material written above with the quotated text below.
